DATA RECOVERY

FORENSIC RECOVERY FROM SUPPORTED DEVICES AND MEDIA

AMR Digital Forensics evaluates supported computers, mobile devices, removable media, and storage systems for potentially recoverable data. Depending on media condition, encryption, prior use, and available access, an examination may identify deleted files, damaged file systems, application data, communications, photographs, documents, and other relevant artifacts.

RECOVERY LIMITATIONS

Recovery is not guaranteed. We preserve the source when feasible, document the methods used, and distinguish recovered data from conclusions that the evidence does not support. When specialized laboratory work is required, we can coordinate an appropriate technical resource with the client’s authorization.

WHEN DATA RECOVERY MAY HELP

Data recovery may be appropriate when relevant information was deleted, a device or storage medium became inaccessible, a file system was damaged, or available records are incomplete. Depending on the source and its condition, an examination may address:

• Accidentally or intentionally deleted files and communications

• Formatted, corrupted, or damaged storage media

• Inaccessible documents, photographs, video, and application data

• Computers, mobile devices, USB drives, memory cards, and external storage

• Available backups, forensic images, cloud exports, and produced data

FORENSIC RECOVERY PROCESS

Our work is designed to preserve the integrity of the available evidence and document what was done. As appropriate to the matter, the process may include:

• Preserving and documenting the original source

• Creating a forensic image or working copy when feasible

• Examining file systems, metadata, application data, and recoverable space

• Validating recovered artifacts and maintaining clear case notes

• Reporting findings, methods, and limitations for counsel or investigators

Recovery depends on factors such as overwriting, encryption, device condition, solid-state-drive behavior, available credentials, and tool support. No specific result can be guaranteed.
