Tablet evidence may be important when a device functions as a communications platform, document repository, cloud-account access point, shared household device, or companion to a mobile phone or computer.

WHO MAY NEED TABLET FORENSICS

Attorneys and investigators may request analysis to evaluate communications, user activity, file access, account use, location history, application data, deleted artifacts, or the relationship between a tablet and synchronized devices or cloud services.

• Photographs, video, documents, downloads, and browsing activity

• Application databases, notifications, account records, and login artifacts

PRESERVATION, REPORTING, AND TESTIMONY

AMR confirms the authorized scope, documents the device and condition, uses methods appropriate to the model and operating system, and preserves source data when feasible. Findings may be provided through confidential consultation, case notes, a written report, demonstrative timelines, or expert testimony when authorized.

IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

No forensic tool supports every tablet or e-reader, and no examination guarantees complete recovery. Results depend on device condition, encryption, access credentials, operating-system behavior, retention, synchronization, prior deletion, and overwriting. A device artifact does not by itself identify the person who performed an action; technical findings must be evaluated with the complete factual and legal record.
